Fun Cheerleading Games

It never ceases to amaze me, the ideas people come up with for video games. Ever since the success of the Sims franchise, there seems to be no nook or cranny of everyday life that can’t be exploited by game designers. I never really understood the draw of the Sims games, but then again, I don’t think a fourty something year old is exactly the demographic for those games. Nonetheless, it would appear, that the good folks over at Nintento, have put together a couple of cheerleading games for both the Wii, and the DS. Appropriately titled Cheerleader Competition for the Wii, and Imagine Cheerleader for the DS.
The first thing I have to wonder when I see games like these, is do real cheerleaders play them, or just wanna be cheerleaders? It certainly couldn’t be the people who got cut from the squad, as there likely to be to bitter about the whole thing, and have gone back to their dance classes. Unless of course, their strategy, is to gleam as much information from the zen of cheerleading and give it another shot at tryouts next year.
Either way, I’m pretty sure I won’t be playing this one, but for those of you interested in this kind of thing, now you know whats available. Me, I’m going to head back and try to slog my way through Bioshock, or maybe invest a little time with Tower Defense. It’s a cool little game, that’s pretty good at distracting me for long periods of time. If only they’d release a level editor for it.
