Anytime you mention the word games these days, everyone seems to think you mean computer games. Computer games can of course mean anything with a video screen, and includes the Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo DS, Sony PSP. and your plain old regular desktop, or laptop computer games. But it wasn’t always that way, nor do I think should it be. As much as I love computer games, I really spend a lot more time playing Squash, than I do playing computer games. And I must confess, that I’m guilty of the same word connotation / association when I hear the word “games”. I always think of computer games, and rarely think of a squash game.

Now take camping for example. If anything should be totally removed from a computer style game, it’s camping. Camping, is out in the great outdoors, surrounded by nature, big tall trees, starry skies, bears, antelopes, and bugs. Nothing you would think, could possible be so non digital as camping. Many people of course can’t do without their gadgets, and do find ways to sneak them there. Is it possible to go camping without someone bringing a cell phone? Is it possible to get a cell phone these days, that doesn’t have games on it.

Personally, I like to think of myself as more of a moderate when it comes to this kind of thing. I have no problem playing computer games while camping. I also have no idea finding some good wholesome family / kids oriented family camping games, or some not so wholesome adult camping games that can be just as much fun ;) Whatever suits your fancy. As long as your getting out of the house and into the great outdoors, it doesn’t matter if a little bit of our digital lives come with us. Just be sure not to mix up your cell phone with the anti-bear pepper spray can.
