Who Sabotaged The Sony PlayStation PS3?
As recently reported in the Washington Times, the newspaper didn’t take the crappy sales of the Sony PlayStation PS3 very well. It seems they’ve even gone as far as to call the lack of sales some sort of sabotage from inside the very promoters of the PS3 themselves.
While it’s true that the Nintendo Wii, and that Microsoft Xbox 360 are enjoying record sales, the poor folks at Sony have had to watch the sales of their machine actually drop in numbers from last November to this November. And it’s not just the PS3 that’s being pummeled, apparently the PS2 is selling at less than even half of what it did at the same time last year.
To suggest that it was internal sabotage responsible for this sales fiasco, might be a little misleading. While it’s true that the Xbox 360 has done extremely well, most likely as a consumer response to a sub $200 price tag on its base Xbox.
To see Sony go in the opposite direction, I’m sure sign the marketing folks over at Microsoft doing cartwheels. It obviously never occurred to the marketing geniuses over at Sony, that I financial downturn might mean people would be more encouraged a cheaper price units. Given a Sony’s response was to introduce a more expensive version of the Sony PS3. Sure that a few more goodies to a, a lot of consumers as they flipped through the Christmas flyers look at the price tag and stop their. They don’t necessarily notice, but the more expensive unit comes with more memory, and an extra controller, and maybe a few more games. I guess some folks at Sony seem to think that that’s what consumers really wanted. You have to really wonder, but some of the bigwigs at Sony are thinking when they make movies like this.
With the Xbox 360 support of the Netflix service, it’s kind of put a damper on the Sony PlayStation PS3 blu-ray capabilities. It could be however, the Sony somewhat hampered by the price of its colleague manufacturers blu-ray units. Meaning, that if they drop the price of the PlayStation PS3, to be comparable of the Xbox 360, and they’re also going head-to-head with other manufacturers blu-ray units at a similar price. With the end result being, no sales for the other manufacturers blu-ray units.
You would’ve thought that with the blu-ray vs HD-DVD wars won, it would be a bonus for the Sony PlayStation 3. And I’m sure this helps in some ways. But, until there is a larger consumer acceptance of blu-ray technology that hard fought battle may be a mute point.

would you Please repost with the last paragraph edited? I sure can’t make sense of it.
I bought a PS3 two weeks ago, it is a blu-ray player to me and internet upgradeable and I don’t give a damn about the games.
It’s a blu ray player. It’s a blu ray player. Its a blu ray player.
AND it’s update capable.
This means I’ll use it as a blu ray player for years, not weeks.
Thanks for the edit check Frank. The last paragraph should make more sense now. You make a good point to, and I suspect your not alone.
